What is LED?
An LED is a microchip that emits light. Compared to incandescent lights that   produce light by heating a tungsten filament, or fluorescent lights that pass   electricity through a tube of ionized gas, LEDs are basically computer   semiconductors that illuminate with the movement of electrons. No filaments heat   up, as in traditional lights. Instead the light is created by a cleverly   designed tiny electronic chip.
Mercury Free
The fluorescent lighting contains trace amounts of mercury.While manufacturers are working to reduce the amount of mercury in a fluorescent lighting, clean up of a broken fluorescent lighting  requires special care.That kind of mercury causes significant amounts of neurological damage.As the exposure gets longer, there may be additional changes in the bone marrow that affect the ability to produce blood cells, infertility and problems with heart rhythm.
An LED light uses semiconductor chips treated to release light when charged with electricity,It doesn't contain mercury and other possible pollutants.
No UV Emissions
 LEDs produce no UV radiation and little heat, making them ideal for illuminating objects
Lower Heat
LED lamps produce very little heat thus reducing air conditioning costs.LEDs operate 10 to 15 percent lower in temperature than fluorescents. LEDs do not generate the same volume of heat as a fluorescent fixture when driven correctly
LED bulb has no filament or tube to break thus they are very durable.  Even if you happen to drop or mishandle one, you will not be left with a mess of broken or shattered glass
